Our Process
Every La Vila 3D project follows a disciplined 7-step methodology — designed to eliminate surprises, protect your timeline, and ensure the data you receive is decision-ready.
Discovery Call
We begin with a structured 30-minute call to understand your project scope, site constraints, regulatory context, and deliverable requirements. We will discuss whether we need a site visit or whether we can go straight to proposal.
Typically scheduled within 48 hours of first contact.
Site Assessment & Regulatory Clearance
We evaluate all necessary aspects of the project site and design a plan to deliver the intended outcome safely, securely, abiding by all related laws. For aerial capture, airspace restrictions, EASA/ADIF/ENAIRE operational category requirements, local permit needs, and site access logistics are all considered. For ground based capture, proper access to all areas, lighting, and safe working conditions are among factors considered.
This process can take 1 day to several weeks depending on the site.
Route/Flight Planning
Taking the right path and capturing the right amount of data takes pre-planning to ensure we only need to capture the data once. For ground based capture, we assess the density, frequency, and resolution, capture points, the desired areas of focus, and the right gear to capture each point. For aerial capture, we design a precise flight plan — altitude, overlap ratios, sensor configuration, and contingency protocols — before the right-sized drone leaves the ground.
Typically this is the day before the on-site reality capture or same day. Our goal of two business days starts here.
Reality Capture
With all the discovery and planning complete, our goal is to make the reality capture the easy part! Adhering to the schedule, we will complete the scanning as planned and retreat back to our facilities to begin the processing.
While we design most projects to be bite sized to one day of capture, more complex project can take more time. We should be able to determine that in Steps 1-3.
Model Processing & Analysis
Raw data enters our processing pipeline: Image and data files are organized and posted to the data processing system. Depending on the size and complexity, processing can take from less than one hour to 24 hours. The completed model is then provided a quality check then made available online in a secure platform.
Processing time: one to two business days
Deliverable Handoff
You receive your outputs in agreed formats: georeferenced orthomosaics, point clouds, textured 3D models, inspection reports with annotated defect maps, or interactive digital twins. All assets are handed over via secure cloud link with full resolution.
Typical available exportable formats include: .OBJ, .LAS, .GeoTIFF. Others can be discussed during discovery.
The models will be made available immediately after Step 5.
Follow-Up & Repeat Projects
For projects that require repeat visits at specific intervals (we hope all of them!), we will schedule out the visits as far out as is appropriate.
Repeat clients receive priority scheduling and volume-adjusted pricing.
